Lingonberry – Vaccinium vitis-idaea L.
This berry is widely used in the food industry in the Northern Europe where it is used in sauces, jams and juices. The lingonberry selected by our company partners is also available in two different varieties.
Similar to the cranberry, the major constituents of V. vitis-idaea are flavonols and proanthocyanidins, but other compounds can be found such as anthocyanins, hydroxycinnamic acids, hydroxybenzoic acids and flavonols.
This fruit has recently showed to be interesting for its possible use in complications of diabetes, due to the activity of some phenolic compounds.
